If You Want To Go Fast – Go Alone, If You Want To Go Far – Go Together.
with Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE
We are all forged from challenge. We all have stories to tell. Some are more pronounced than others.
Mine is about arriving in the UK, the youngest child with my parents and siblings at the age of six. A story of falling over and getting up – it is one of building resilience – ready for the next challenge. A story of being curious – an eagerness to know what I don’t know.
A story of how a girl from small town Berbice, Guyana, South America with dreams of being a medical doctor came to be honoured by Queen Elizabeth II and recognised with Honourary Doctorates and Fellowships from some of the UK’s most prestigious educational institutions.
How did I do it? I took the “ I’m possible” not impossible mindset.
Not only did I ensure that each step along my journey or up the ladder was taken with resilience, emotional intelligence, and leadership considerations for people I work and worked with, and even though I did not know there would eventually be a “tagline” for it, I ensured that each, board, committee, network that I was built or worked on was done with what I now call the DIBs framework: –
• Diversity – of thought, creativity, gender with the intersectionality of race, and social mobility
• Inclusion – ensuring that everyone is supported, encouraged, and given the confidence to speak up
• Belonging – ensuring that every voice is not only heard but acknowledged and understood.
Afterall, “Diversity is having a seat at the table, inclusion is having a voice, and belonging is having that voice be heard.”
My name is Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE. This is my story. What’s Yours?
She also chairs The Radio Academy, is on the Diversity Advisory Panel: OFCOM and Senator World Angels Business Forum. A founding Director of Choice Fm – now known as Capital Xtra she also founded women in business WinTrade Global Entrepreneur’s Network 23 years ago which celebrates over 600 global women in London annually.

How do you battle with gurus without knowledge?
with Dexter Moscow
Today it is not enough to be excellent at what you do. Today you must be a Master Communicator.
For 16 years I was retained on a freelance basis as QVC The Shopping Channel’s chief guest trainer coaching individuals how to sell their products to an invisible audience. I also appeared live, presenting, and selling £millions worth of products for major brands.
This experience informs my unique approach to corporate communication, selling ideas and influencing skills.
As a speaker and business coach, those working with Dexter attending his presentations and sales courses have gained heightened communication abilities, new insights and increased confidence in ‘selling’, themselves and their business proposition.
His experience working with the professions, in retail, on TV and in major corporates has led him to write his book ‘Stand Up and Sell’ which seeks to help individuals become more persuasive and influential.

Why your work is needed more than ever!
with Rachel Brier
If you read the news, it’s easy to believe the world is becoming a darker and more dangerous place. In the face of war, natural disasters, and widespread social breakdown, does looking good really matter? Can a new lipstick have any real value in the face of real hardship?
I’ve spent the last two years asking some serious questions about our industry, and I want to share with you why I believe styling matters in a broken world, and to help you articulate that for yourself.
Whether you want to put a bit more depth into your sales pitch, or answer this lingering question for yourself, I want to help you find even more confidence and joy in your work of helping others step into their beauty.
Rachel Brier has been working as a Style Coach in the UK since 2015. She has recently completed a Masters’ Degree in Beauty, and Theology and likes to think deeply about why we value beauty as much as we do.
She has a long-standing love affair with texture and pattern and is passionate about finding ways to repurpose and remake clothing into new and loved items. Rachel is currently serving as International Director for FIPI.
5:10 pm – 6:00 pm
