Becoming an Image or Style Professional

Working in the style and image industry is an exciting career path to take.

There are many courses you can take, much experience to be had and a hugely fulfilling path ahead if you choose a career in the image industry.

FIPI can represent and support you on that journey. Why not, first of all, check out our Industry definitions page

to see what career direction and role might be right for you.  From here you can look through our vision for FIPI’s training standards and what you need to

to look out for and strive towards in choosing the right course for you.

Why not start your search by speaking to one of FIPI’s Accredited Training Providers -ATP’s- who we know can set you on the right track.

Image Consultants/Stylist training delivered by an ATP is required to meet the exact criteria of FIPI and the City & Guilds of London Masters Award in

Image Consultancy and Personal Styling -formerly known as the Joint Award- for Minimum Standards of Competence.

The training is designed to enable students to be knowledgeable and able to demonstrate and measure their performance against these standards.

In time and with experience the student will be able to progress to the Masters Award if s/he chooses to do so.

Currently, there are six core subjects which make up the Minimum Standards of Competence.
