Become an Image Professional
Professionally qualified image consultants have all trained in the core areas of image consultancy and have usually added to these skills with additional studies in other key areas of image and communication.
Whilst image consultancy requires no formal qualifications prior to training, it is essential that you have excellent interpersonal skills as this is primarily a people-focused business.
One of the first steps to becoming an image consultant is to undertake training at foundation level. Foundation training will give you basic knowledge and skills to undertake consulting with private clients in fields such as Style and Body Analysis, Colour Analysis, Personal Shopping, Wardrobe Management & Make-up Application.
Training can be obtained from a variety of sources and training academies, but FIPI is the only organisation that has Accredited Training Providers (ATPs) offering foundation training in the four core areas of image consulting: Colour Analysis; Female Style & Body Analysis, Male Style & Body Analysis, Make-up Tuition.
Each ATP is audited bi-annually by FIPI’s Accreditation Board to ensure that each company’s training complies with FIPI’s Standards of Competence criteria. These are the Standards by which consultants will be assessed for their Associate and Master status.
Once you have completed Foundation training, consultants can apply to undertake their Masters Award in Image Consultancy which is accredited with City and Guilds. This is a challenging award which demands a 100% pass rate and proves the high level of competence at which our consultants work.
If you would like to apply to complete our Masters Award and have not trained with an ATP, then we recommend that you attend our Standards Training Day. This will provide you with a clear outline of what is involved and give you the guidelines for procedures which we work to at FIPI.
