FIPI is the Professional Body for the Image Industry and is the most senior image organisation in the world. From its inception in 1989, it has continually been at the cutting edge of the image industry in terms of developments for its members. Our members are in all branches of the Image Industry, both in the UK and throughout the world.
FIPI provides support, professional development, insurance, a sought after book list, social networking forums, Standards of Competence for working as well as the only qualification of its kind in the world.

Advice and Support
We’ve all had questions that we’ve not known who to ask! It’s likely that with an organisation with 300 members in over 16 countries and with members who have been in the Federation for twenty plus years, someone will know the answer. So what do you do? You could post your question on our members only Facebook Forum, or you could contact the Director most related to your questions and it will be re-directed to someone who can help you.
Throughout the year the FIPI runs a number of seminars to help you extend your knowledge of image and to enable you to get fresh ideas for your business. You’ll also get a chance to attend Master Classes which will enable you to go into a topic in more depth. These will be led by international experts in their field. By attending these you will build up credits for your Continuous Professional Development (CPD) which will help you on your way to Fellowship status. Attendance at some courses run by Accredited Training Providers (ATPs) will enable you to build up credits too. Many members really value networking and meeting fellow image consultants at these events and go away with lots of ideas for re-invigorating their businesses.
Each October we hold our Annual Conference, which is a great chance to meet fellow members from around the world. There is a full programme of highly impressive speakers who reflect the key values of FIPI – inspiration, expertise and success. It is a great opportunity to invest in your own professional development and to ensure your business remains current. The AGM is held during the conference and it is also your chance to meet the Executive Board and make your voice heard.
By being a Member of the FIPI, you will be able to show your clients that you work to internationally recognised quality standards – you will have greater credibility. Accompanying these standards in the four core areas of Colour Analysis, Style for Women, Style for Men and Tuition in Basic Cosmetic Application are Rules of Hygiene, which show your level of professionalism in terms of Make-Up Application. On becoming a member you sign a Code of Practice and Ethics in which you show that you will provide the best possible service to the client.
We are proud to be the only global professional image federation which has a qualification recognised by a government body. In conjunction with The City and Guilds of London, FIPI can accredit experienced consultants with Master status which is obtained by assessment of a portfolio and four modules: colour analysis, women’s style, men’s style and make-up tuition. Success in at least one of these modules confers Associate status. Members who have obtained their Associate and Master level qualifications can use post nominals.
FIPI offers preferential rates for Public Liability insurance, which are highly competitive when compared with other providers. Depending on your needs, the insurance fee is payable separate to membership.
Each month you will receive a newsletter, keeping you up to date on FIPI events and news. We like to share your news too – all members are welcome to submit articles for publication in our FIPI news section, this is a great way to showcase your expertise.
Once you join us you will be listed in the directory on our website, so anyone using the FIPI site to find an image consultant in your area can find you and your contact details. Once you have attained Master status you will be able to have a personal profile page on the FIPI site which can be linked directly to your website. There is also a member’s area where you will find tips to help your business and also your password will allow you to access your profile online to ensure your information and membership status is kept updated.
The FIPI is run by a President and Directors. We are all members of the FIPI who take on these voluntary roles for a two year period, so we know exactly what it is like to be an image professional. You can see who we are on the website and any of us would be happy to talk to you at any time. Having said that, we are all busy people and email is likely to be the best way of contacting us. Elections for some members of the Board are held each year at the AGM. If you are feel you have the necessary skills and are interested in helping to run the FIPI and keep it the prestigious organisation it has become then do contact one of us for a discussion.
